Terms of Service

This page is maintained by Suss to explain the rules, responsibilities, and limitations that apply when you use the Suss platform. It is not legal advice; if you have questions about how these terms affect you, consult a qualified attorney.

Effective date: August 4, 2026

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using the Suss website, mobile web app, or any related service (collectively, "Suss" or the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all of these terms, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Service after the changes means you accept the revised Terms.

2. Who can use Suss

Suss is intended for adults aged 18 or older. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

You may only use Suss for personal, safety-related purposes. You may not use the Service to stalk, harass, discriminate against, threaten, or harm anyone, or to gather information for illegal purposes.

3. What Suss does and does not do

Suss is a decision-support tool that helps you think through safety signals before meeting someone you connected with online. It combines your own answers to behavioral questions with publicly available signals (such as photos, profile links, and public-record checks where permitted) to produce a plain-language summary.

Suss is not a background check, consumer reporting agency, or investigative service. It is not a substitute for law enforcement, legal advice, professional due diligence, or your own judgment. A Suss report is guidance, not a guarantee of anyone's character, history, or intentions.

4. Accounts and registration

You can browse the public Suss website without an account. To run a Suss check, view a report, or save reports over time, you must create a free account and authenticate through a supported sign-in provider.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@getsuss.org.

5. Free previews and paid services

A free Suss account includes a behavioural preview of a check. Free previews do not require payment and do not run paid third-party scans (such as AI-image detection, reverse-image search, or public records checks).

Full reports require a Suss Premium subscription. Current plans are $4.99/week, $8.99/month, or $49.99/year (USD), as shown on our pricing page and at checkout. Payments are processed by Paddle, our payment provider and Merchant of Record; Suss does not receive or store your raw card details. You are responsible for any applicable taxes.

Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the plan price and interval you selected until you cancel.

Cancellation. Suss does not currently offer an in-app cancel button. To cancel, use the subscription-management link in your Paddle receipt email or contact us at support@getsuss.org. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: it stops future renewals, and your Premium access continues until that period ends, after which your account returns to the free tier. Reports you already generated remain in your account. Partial periods are not pro-rated unless required by law; see our Refund Policy.

Some paid features (such as public-record searches) may be subject to usage limits, for example a maximum number of searches per month. These limits are shown in the app and may change from time to time.

6. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct

You agree not to use Suss to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, or threaten any person;
  • Discriminate against, dox, or publish private information about anyone without their consent;
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your relationship to a subject;
  • Submit photos, documents, or information that you do not have the right to share;
  • Circumvent rate limits, access controls, or security measures;
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service;
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit Suss reports without written permission.

We may suspend or terminate your account if we believe you have violated these rules or used the Service in a way that could harm Suss, other users, or third parties.

7. Content you provide

You retain ownership of any information you submit to Suss, such as behavioral answers, profile links, and photos. By submitting content, you grant Suss a limited license to use that content solely to provide, operate, and improve the Service.

You represent that you have the right to share any content you submit and that it does not violate the privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights of any third party.

8. Data, privacy, and retention

Suss is designed to be private by default. Your reports and uploaded photos are associated with your account and are not publicly visible. We do not sell your personal information.

Uploaded photos are stored only for the limited time needed to run the check and are automatically purged on a schedule. We may retain aggregated, de-identified data for analytics and service improvement.

Use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

9. Intellectual property

The Suss name, logo, visual design, code, and all content provided by Suss (excluding content you submit) are owned by Suss or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our materials without written permission.

We welcome feedback and suggestions. Any feedback you provide may be used by Suss without restriction or compensation to you.

10. Termination

You may stop using Suss at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ends. Any provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) will survive.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SUSS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Suss does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any report, score, or finding is accurate, complete, or reliable. Public data sources and third-party APIs can change, be incomplete, or be temporarily unavailable.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SUSS AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, DATA LOSS, OR PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

SUSS'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SUSS IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Suss and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Before filing a formal legal claim, we encourage you to contact us at support@getsuss.org so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
